Our Philosophy
At 1st Impressions Early Learning Centre, we believe children, educators, and families are co-constructors of learning. Within a child-safe, child-centered, and nurturing environment, children are supported to grow into confident and capable individuals.
Our Vision
To create a safe, holistic, and nurturing environment where every child is valued as a capable learner, diversity is celebrated, and strong partnerships with families support children to grow with confidence and independence.
Our Program: Child-centered and Holistic
We believe that children are capable learners. Our program is guided by children’s interests and individuality, with educators supporting learning by thoughtfully combining structured, intentional teaching with spontaneous, child-led experiences. We believe both approaches are essential in supporting holistic development. By offering experiences across all learning areas, every child is given a fair go in life and the opportunity to build essential life skills. Learning is extended beyond the classroom through excursions and incursions. Through connecting with their community, the children broaden their understanding of the world around them.
Our Environment: Child-safe and Multi-cultural
We believe that a child-safe and inclusive environment fosters a strong sense of security and belonging. Our environment reflects and celebrates diversity by valuing different cultures, traditions, languages, identities, and ways of learning.
By creating a space where children feel physically, socially, and emotionally safe, we aim to create a second home for the children.
Our multi-lingual approach to learning helps children feel a sense of belonging and comfort in our centre. Our meal times, which is one of the children’s favourite parts of the day, include a culturally diverse menu and reflect family preferences.
Our Educators: Nurturers and Facilitators of Learning
We believe educators play a key role in nurturing each child through warm, respectful, and positive interactions. By building trusting relationships, educators are able to facilitate learning and support children in feeling safe, confident, and capable. We support our educators with ongoing professional development and quality early childhood resources, and we value the diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds they bring to enriching children’s learning.
Our Families: Partners
We recognise families as children’s first and most influential teachers. We value strong collaborative partnerships built on mutual support and open communication. By working together, we are able to connect children’s home and centre life, ensuring experiences are meaningful, relevant, and respectful of each family’s beliefs and values.
We extend this support to busy families through our Saturday care and after-school hours. We offer flexible, reliable care designed to assist working parents and make it easier to balance work and family commitments.
