Families and Community
Parents are children’s first teachers; thus, we believe that collaborating with families allow us to make well-informed curriculum decisions that ensure children’s meaningful learning experiences. We believe in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with families and our community. We respect and understand that families of different cultures and backgrounds may value different things when it comes to their children’s education and development. We welcome and value their contribution into our curriculum and day-to-day routines, so our program consists of families’ suggestions and regular feedback. Educators strive to work in close partnerships with families to provide high quality care and education for children within a warm, welcoming, and safe environment that feels like their second home.

On the 15th of December, we had the privilege of hosting a magical Piano & Violin Recital in collaboration with Adelaide Music School at the Australia Piano Warehouse. This special event was a celebration of our students’ musical talents and dedication. Families and friends came together to enjoy an afternoon filled with enchanting melodies and heartfelt performances. The recital highlighted the incredible progress and confidence our young musicians have achieved through their passion and hard work. This memorable event was not just about the music—it was a wonderful opportunity to bring our community closer together and celebrate the joy of learning. The festive atmosphere, combined with the harmonious tunes, made the recital a perfect way to round off the year. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone who joined us and supported this event. Your encouragement inspires our students to continue growing and thriving in their musical journeys. Stay tuned for more events that showcase the incredible potential of our students. Until then, let’s keep the music alive! 🎵

Some sweet Indian treats for our 1st Impressions ELC families to celebrate Diwali! Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights – one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism that symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance”. This has been a great experience to share with the children about the different cultures and important festivals within the community and discuss about inclusion and diversity. Through this celebration, educators provided a variety of learning opportunities to extend on children’s cultural knowledge. Happy Diwali from 1st Impressions!

4th of December 2022 was a fun day with the staff, parents, company contractors and business partners celebrating as one family! This simple gathering was our way of extending our gratitude to the staff who worked hard all year round and have been passionate in providing quality education and care for the children. This celebration was also our way of saying thank you to all the parents for being a part of 1st Impressions ELC and for the continued trust and support. Engaging with families and communities is a great way of building respectful relationships and collaborative partnerships. We are looking forward to more successful years ahead and we are hoping more families can join us next year!

Last August 23, 2022, the team from SA Metropolitan Fire Service (Prospect) visited 1st Impressions ELC to engage our Challenger Room children regarding fire safety. They were so excited exploring the big red firetruck and the firefighters’ equipment! They also learned how to “Stop, Drop and Roll”! Incursions are indeed a fun way to engage with our local community! 🚒🧯🧑🏻🚒

May 12, 2022- Matthew Wright who is a former professional Australian footballer who played for the Adelaide and the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) came over to visit us and introduced our children to a bit of footy fun! He has played over 150 games but retired from AFL football then pursued a coaching career back in South Australia. Since 2019, he has been a development coach at the Adelaide Crows, and has also been captain of the club’s SANFL team. Matthew is also a doting father to two of our 1st Impressions ELC children! Isn’t that cool? This activity was a great opportunity for our centre to strengthen relationships with families and engage communities! It was really an amazing experience to have families over in our centre to talk to children about different topics such as occupations, sports or hobbies in a fun and educational way, let alone our own 1st Impressions ELC parents!

It was a successful Parents’ Night last December 28, 2021 held at 1st Impressions ELC’s Starter Room as parents and educators gathered for a night of socialisation! Parents were able to meet other parents and discuss with educator’s their children’s progresses. We have also invited a special guest to give a brief discussing regarding the THRASS Learning System which we already incorporate in our ELC curriculum. Ms. Kate Corciega briefly discussed about childcare subsidy and assisting families with enrolment, and Ms. Qing Wang discussed about the different government and third-party organisational support we can help offer to the 1st Impressions ELC families with children who may require other forms of developmental support. It was a great opportunity to ask parents for feedback, comments and suggestions regarding our centre activities and program. We displayed children’s artworks and had a little snack afterwards! Looking forward to the next year’s Parent’s Night hoping more families could join us and do more activities!
